The SDF range are direct drive centrifugal fans. They are capable of producing large flow rates at comparatively high static pressures, allowing for a variety of applications including ventilation, fume hoods, and dust extraction. The SDF range incorporates a powder coated steel casing and a two pole motor that is either flange mounted or pedestal mounted.

Some fan models may not require an adapter kit.
Direct drive centrifugal fans are useful in a number of environments and situations. In comparison to axial fans, centrifugal fans are capable of generating a much higher flow rate and air pressure, thus making them integral to environments which require a large flow rate of air. The SDF range of centrifugal fans remove and replace air containing unwanted fumes or dust particles, ensuring breathability and providing a necessary standard of cleanliness.
The SDF range can provide uniquely high pressures in comparison to other available centrifugal fans, providing a unique advantage. Further, this range vertically discharges fumes, allowing for large amounts of air to be expelled, including some noxious gases which cannot be discharged horizontally due to regulations.
There are 24 models in the SDF range, each with unique design features that can be grouped into three separate ranges; 1-4, 6-10, and 10-25. In general, a smaller number indicates a smaller model, where SDF1 has a diameter of 475mm and SDF25 has a diameter of 1045mm. The SDF 1-4 range and the SDF 6-10 includes a flange mounted motor, whereas the SDF 10-25 includes a pedestal mounted motor.
The incorporation of a direct drive motor improves the efficiency of the fan, allowing for higher speeds, and reduced energy loss. The motor is also a two pole, three phase rotor-motor. A two pole motor allows for a high RPM and a low torque, while a three phase motor allows for a larger amount of power than a single phase motor if necessary.
The SDF 1-4 range is protected by a square casing manufactured from strong powder coated steel, while the SDF 6-10 and 10-25 both include an asymmetric case design similarly manufactured from powder coated steel. A square casing provides the advantage of allowing the discharge direction to be changed easily, ensuring this fan is adaptable to a variety of applications.
In order to ensure the SDF range can be used in the widest variety of settings, there are a few customisable options allowing for the fan to be tailored to various situations. These choices include the option to be constructed entirely from stainless steel, increasing the strength and durability of the system. Further, the choice between horizontal and vertical discharge is available and can be determined based on the amount of air flow required to be expelled by the fan, where vertical discharge fans are capable of safely exhausting larger amounts of air. There is also the option of clockwise or anti-clockwise configuration, ensuring the product can be tailored to any situation.
